This page shows all GED and HiSET prep classes and test sites in the Alexandria area. Louisiana uses the HiSET and GED exams for its high school equivalency testing program.

The exams offer individuals who did not graduate high school the chance to earn an equivalent degree.

The HiSET®, in the same way as the GED®, assesses fundamental knowledge at a level that compares to that of high school graduates.

There are five HiSET subtests in the subject fields of

• Math
• Science
• Language Writing
• Language Reading
• Social Studies

GED testing comes with four separate sub-exams. Here, the reading and writing portions were put together to form one Language Arts sub-exam.

The HiSET assessment is offered in both a paper- and a computer-based format, whereas the GED is fully computer-based.

Online HiSET or GED testing was, until recently, no option. You needed to come to an official Louisiana HSE (High School Equivalency) test center and sit for the test in person.

The arrival of the HiSET-At-Home-Exam and OP (Online Proctored) GED test, however, has changed this. Read more below.

HiSET and GED Online Testing Option Introduced

Until recently, the HiSET and GED tests were not offered via the Internet. If you were looking to earn your high school equivalency diploma in Louisiana, your personal appearance at an official HSE testing facility was required. But now, this has changed with the introduction of an online HiSET testing option called the HiSET-Exam-At-Home and the Online Proctored (O.P.) GED test.

So today, you have the option to take the five HiSET or four GED subtests from your home with an online format that utilizes a proctor that checks if your test-taking process happens in line with very strict regulations.
