GED and HiSET

California GED Practice Test

The state of California not only offers the GED program to its residents for their high school equivalency/proficiency testing. Californians (or rather, the testing centers) have the option to choose between the GED and the HiSET testing programs, and some offer both options.

The HiSET exam offers both computer and paper-based testing and includes five testing sections (language arts is divided into separate reading and writing tests).

This way the state offers more second chances to help students that never completed high school in their efforts to get back on track by earning a secondary education credential that leads to the High School Equivalency Diploma.

Adults of all ages have the opportunity to pursue a California Certificate of High School Equivalency, a credential issued by the State of California to students that passed the HiSET or GED exam.

Without a high school or equivalent diploma, adults will face many challenges in finding a job and supporting their families. By preparing for the California  HiSET or GED exam, they can work on their basic skills and knowledge and earn a diploma that allows them to build a bridge to a brighter future and remove barriers to decently paying and fulfilling employment.
