In this post, you can discover all GED and HiSET prep facilities and testing centers in the Barnstable area. Massachusetts is using two options for its High School Equivalency testing program, the GED and HiSET exams.
Both the HiSET and the GED are now available in an online format as well. Read more below.
The exams provide persons who left high school without graduating the opportunity to earn an equivalent degree.
Testing takes place at a level that’s similar to what’s expected from graduating high school students.
The GED® is fully computerized and has four individual tests in the fields of Science, Literacy, Social Studies, and Math.
You can take one GED subtest (module) at a time. No need to deal with the entire GED battery in one take.
The HiSET® comes with separate reading and writing tests, so five in total, that can be dealt with individually as well. The HiSET subtests can also be taken separately if you wish.
The five HiSET subtests are available both on paper and on a computer, while the GED exam is administered exclusively in a computer-based format.

Online GED and HiSET testing options
Until recently, there was never an option to take the GED or HiSET exam over the internet. However, recent developments have changed this. Both high school equivalency tests now have introduced online testing options.
The GED credential
The High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma will lead to better employment, and it allows for higher education so holders of the degree can pursue the career of their dreams.
GED scoring is done on a 100 – 200 scale where 145 – 164 is the H.S equivalency passing score, 165 – 174 is the College-Ready score, and 175 – 200 is the College-Ready plus Credit score.
On the HiSET exam, the minimally required score on each of the five subtests is 8 out of 20. Your overall result must be 45 or higher, and your essay must have at least a score of 2 out of 6.
The diploma that you will receive when you complete the Massachusetts HiSET or GED exam successfully is nationally recognized and accepted as equivalent to a standard high school diploma by employers, government bodies, colleges, and universities.
GED or HiSET prep classes will educate you on the same fundamental subject matters that students are taught in high school, and the testing subject areas are language reading, language writing, math, science, and social studies.
