This page lists all GED (in Montana: HiSET) test locations and prep sites in the Bozeman area. In Montana, you’ll have to pass the five HiSET subtests if you want to earn your high school equivalency credential.
The HiSET exam can be taken both online and at state-approved Montana test centers.
The assessment, in the same way as the GED®, is for individuals who did not finish high school and offers them the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The HiSET® exam contains five tests in the subjects Language Arts Reading, Language Arts Writing, Science, Math, and Social Studies.
The HiSET exam measures academic proficiency at the same level that is expected from HS graduates.
The five HiSET tests may, if wished, be taken individually and are available both on paper and in a computer-based format.
In the past, taking the HiSET exam online was no option. Applicants were required to show up at an official state-recognized testing site.
Recently, however, that has changed with the launch of the ‘HiSET-At-Home’ online testing option. You can read more at the bottom of this page.

Montana traded the GED for the HiSET exam for the state’s HSE (High School Equivalency) program a few years back because the GED was only offered on a computer, and the price skyrocketed.
The HSE program offers individuals that left high school without a diploma another chance to earn an equivalent degree that qualifies for higher education and will lead to better job options.
The HiSET exam is developed by ETS, a nonprofit organization that has a long-standing reputation in developing educational assessment systems. ETS has a mission to advance quality and equity in education in general. If you are ready to take your career, academic education, or training to the next level, the HiSET may be your ticket.
These days, a secondary education credential (high school diploma or equivalency credential) is absolutely required for college and as well for more than 80 percent of all vacant jobs in America. The HSE diploma is more important for employers than ever before. The HiSET exam is the newest and best alternative to the now entirely computerized GED exam.
Regardless of what you did and achieved in your life, the HiSET exam will give you the option to go in any new direction you wish. The State of Montana offers you the chance to earn the state-issued HSE (high school equivalency) diploma via the HiSET assessment method.
Obtaining the HSE diploma allows you to get into college and go after the career you’ve always dreamed of.
