The GED exam can be taken online and at state-certified testing centers.

The exam gives individuals who never completed high school the chance to acquire an equivalent credential.

The GED® exam measures knowledge at a similar level as what students must know when they graduate from high school.

There are four separate GED modules (subtests) that measure knowledge of

  • Science
  • Math
  • Social Studies
  • English Language

You can take one subtest at a time. There’s no need to complete the four GED subtests in one take.

GED testing must be done entirely on a computer. Paper-based testing is something of the past.

This makes sense, actually, as there’s hardly any job out there that doesn’t require basic computing skills.

Until recently, there was no online option to take the GED exam. That has changed with the arrival of an online proctored GED testing option. You can find more information at the bottom of this page.
