GED Classes Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Last Updated on April 23, 2024.

This is an overview of GED and HiSET prep classes and test facilities in the Cape Girardeau region. Missouri uses the GED and HiSET exams for its high school equivalency testing program.

The exams can be taken online or at certified Missouri testing centers.

The HiSET®, like the GED®, offers individuals who didn’t graduate high school the opportunity to earn an equivalent diploma.

The GED exam includes four independent, modular sub-exams that cover the fields of

  • English Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies

HiSET testing includes five individual sub-exams, as the Language Arts section has separate reading and writing subtests.

The HiSET exam can be done in both a paper-based and a computer-based model, whereas the GED is offered only on a computer.

In the past, online GED or HiSET testing was not possible. You needed to show up in person, at one of Missouri’s official test centers.

Now, however, that has changed with the introduction of the online GED and HiSET exams. Learn more below.

Online GED and HiSET Introduced

In the past, there was never an option to take the GED or HiSET online. Now, however, things have changed. The GED and HiSET exams are now also available online. To learn more, visit our post “Introducing the Online GED Test.”

When taking this ‘HiSET-At-Home’ exam, a proctor will take you through the online test-taking process and check whether you do everything in line with the regulations. To learn all about this great development, check out -> Launching the online HiSET exam.

GED and HiSET Registration

Registration and making payments for the HiSET exam are done entirely online on the HiSET website, hiset.org. Your unofficial scores will be available immediately after you complete one of the computer-based subtests for multiple-choice sections.

You can access your unofficial scores when you log in to your HiSET account. The Test Center staff has no access to your HiSET scores. For the GED exam, set up an account at GED.com. This is the place for scheduling and paying for your tests.

Transcripts

Schools and test centers do not maintain GED or HiSET transcripts. If you would like to get a copy of your GED or HiSET transcript, you need to contact Missouri’s Department of Elementary & Secondary Education and obtain it from them.

You can go to the official HSE Official Transcript webpage and submit your request for a transcript online. You may also contact the High School Equivalency Department at 573-751-3504.

Do we have to include or remove a facility? Are updates or adjustments required? We appreciate your advice here.
