Arizona uses the computer-based GED exam for high school equivalency testing.

The assessment allows persons who never graduated high school to obtain an equivalent degree.

The GED® test includes four subtests that measure knowledge at the level of graduating high school students.

The four subtests (modules) are in the subject fields of

• Math (Mathematical Reasoning)
• Science
• English Language (Reasoning through Language Arts)
• Social Studies

The GED subtests can be taken independently. So prepare for one module, pass that subtest, and move on to the next part.

No longer do you need to show up at an official GED testing site; online GED testing is now available as well for qualifying candidates. GED applicants also need to pass the Arizona Civics test.

Online GED Exam

You can now also take the GED test over the Internet. In the past, your personal appearance at a state-designated GED testing center was required if you wanted to secure your Arizona high school equivalency (HSE) diploma.

This has now changed with the introduction of the online GED test. An online proctor will monitor the process. To be able to take the test online, you need to attain “green scores” on the official practice test GED Ready®. For more information, check out Online GED testing.
