GED® and HiSET® testing is available online and at state-certified Missouri test centers.

The assessments allow people who never graduated high school to obtain an equivalent degree.

Both HSE (High School Equivalency) assessments measure an applicant’s level of knowledge and skills at the level that high school seniors are expected to understand upon graduation.

The GED exam has four independent modules covering the subject areas of

• English Language (writing and reading combined)
• Social Studies
• Math
• Science

The HiSET exam comes with separate reading and writing modules, so five in total. All GED and HiSET modules can be taken individually and in any order.

The GED is only available on a computer, whereas the HiSET exam can be done on a computer or in a paper-based format.
