GED Classes Daytona Beach, Florida

Last Updated on April 10, 2024.

Listed here are all GED prep facilities and test centers in the Daytona Beach, Florida, region. Florida uses the fully computer-formatted GED test for its high school equivalency testing program.

The GED exam is offered online and at certified GED test centers. To learn more about online GED testing, check below. Florida has, however, suspended the online GED exam on 1-10-2024.

The GED® test is developed for adults who quit high school without graduating, giving them another option for earning an equivalent degree.

The exam contains four individual modules (subtests) assessing a candidate’s knowledge level in these fields:

  • Math
  • Science
  • English Language
  • Social Studies

These four GED subtests (independent modules) may be taken separately and in any preferred order; no need to take it all in one session.

Introducing Online GED Testing

For taking the computerized GED exam, there was, until recently, never an online option. If you wanted to earn a GED degree, you had to show up in person at an official Florida GED test center and pass the four GED subtests.

Now, all of that has changed with the introduction of an online, proctored GED testing option where an online proctor guides you through the test-taking process. Check out this article: ‘The online proctored GED exam,’ for more detailed information. However, Florida has suspended online GED testing on January 10, 2024.

Passing Score

Your GED results are calibrated on a scoring scale from 100 to 200. The passing score is 145 points on each module. There are four GED scoring ranges:

  • 100-144 points: Below Passing Scores
  • 145-164 points: High School Equivalent Scores
  • 165-174 points: College-Ready Scores
  • 175-200 points: College-Ready + Credits Scores

GED Modular Testing

The GED (General Education Development) is modular. This means you have the option to prepare for and take one of the four subtests (modules) when you are ready to do so. You only need to pay for the module(s) you take.

The certificate you obtain after passing the Florida GED exam is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma by colleges, universities, government agencies, and employers across America.
