This page lists all GED prep class locations and testing facilities in the Elko region. Nevada provides two exams for High School Equivalency testing, the GED and HiSET.

The exams give persons who didn’t graduate high school one more option to obtain an equivalent diploma.
Testing occurs at a similar level as what high school seniors are required to commend upon graduation.
The HiSET® is offered in a paper-and-pencil and a computer-based format, whereas the GED is only available on a computer.

You are given the option to sit for the GED subtests one at a time.
HiSET testing includes five subtests (writing and reading are separate tests) that may also be taken one at a time.

Great Basin College has switched from the GED to HiSET. The HiSET exam is more affordable than the GED exam, which is only available computer-formatted, while the HiSET exam is offered both on a computer and on paper. High school equivalency instruction is offered in Elko, Owyhee, Pahrump, West Wendover, and Winnemucca. The Elko Adult Education Center also offers the Adult High School Diploma Program, which Great Basin College supports together with the Elko County School District. Online GED and HiSET Testing Options
In the past, the GED and HiSET exams were exclusively offered at state-approved Nevada HSE testing facilities. There was simply no online option available. Recently, however, we saw the launch of online testing options for both the HiSET and GED exams.
