Listed here are all GED prep classes and test centers in the Farmington region. New Mexico offers two options for high school equivalency testing, the GED and HiSET exams.
Both tests are offered online and at state-designated test centers.
The exams give persons who don’t have a high school diploma the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The GED® has four independent subtests in
- English Language Literacy
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
You have the option to complete these four modules one at a time and in any desired order.
The HiSET® exam contains five subtests, as Literacy comes with a reading and a writing test. The HiSET tests can be taken separately as well.

The HiSET is offered in both paper-based and computerized formats, whereas the GED is done exclusively on a computer.
In the past, to earn a New Mexico High School Equivalency diploma, you were required to come to a state-approved testing site and attain sufficient scores on the HiSET or GED exam. Online testing was not possible.
Recently, this has changed, however, with the arrival of online testing options for both the HiSET and the GED exam. Read more below.
In New Mexico, test-takers are no longer required to complete the HiSET or GED within three years.

Navajo YouthBuilders (Capacity Builders Inc.)

The Navajo Youthbuiders Program is for at-risk Navajos ages 16 to 24. It helps them develop basic construction skills through hands-on training and classroom instruction. Classroom instruction is on Mondays and Tuesdays at the former Grace B. Wilson Elementary School in Kirtland.

Online GED and HiSET Testing Introduced
Taking the GED or HiSET exam online was, until recently, not possible. HSE testing was just not offered via the Internet. The recent introduction, however, of online proctored GED and HiSET tests has changed that.
