The GED exam can be taken online or at one of Wisconsin’s official GED testing sites. The exam is for persons who did not finish their high school curriculum and gives them the chance to acquire an equivalent degree.

The GED® exam is a set of four tests that measure knowledge at a level comparable to that of high school seniors upon graduation.

The four computer-based GED subtests assess proficiency in these academic subject areas:

  • Social Studies
  • Math
  • English Language
  • Science

There’s no need to take the four GED subtests (or modules) in one session. You can take them one at a time if you wish.

Until recently, online GED testing was not possible. You were required to come to one of Wisconsin’s official GED testing centers and take the four tests in person.

Welcoming the Online GED Test

In the past, sitting for the GED test over the Internet was not possible. Students who wanted to earn their GED diplomas were required to appear in person, at an official, state-recognized Wisconsin GED testing site.

Well, this has come to an end as we witnessed the introduction of the online proctored GED test. Qualifying students opting for the online GED test version will have an online proctor overseeing their activities to check if all goes according to the regulations. If you would like to read more about this new option, check out ‘The Online GED Test.’
