GED At Home

It is now possible to take the GED exam at home and receive your high school equivalency diploma without attending a school or going to a test center.

Recently, GED Testing Service organization introduced the online GED test-taking option where an online proctor will see if all goes according to the rules and regulations.

Taking the GED Exam and Prep at Home

So now you can not only get all set for the four GED® subtests by following an online prep course, but you can also take the four GED subtests, one at a time if you like, from the comfort of your home when you log in to your GED.com account.

Before you are allowed to take the tests online, however, you’ll have to score in the “green” zone on the GED Ready® practice test and meet all other requirements.

There are four GED Ready tests, one for each of the four subtests, that cover the academic fields of Science, Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts.

You have the option to take these subtests (modules) one at a time online as long as you have attained a “green” score on the GED Ready practice test and meet the other requirements.

This website offers free support to get optimally prepared and successfully take the four GED modules. There are entertaining free video lessons and numerous free practice tests.

Online GED Testing Requirements

If you take the GED exam from your home, a qualified online proctor securely monitors the online test-taking process to make sure you meet all of the requirements and follow the rules. Let’s look at some requirements to take the GED at home.

    • Your testing room
The space that you use for taking the test needs to have closed doors and four walls, and there must be no distraction possibilities.
    • Your computer, webcam, and Internet connection
Your Internet connection must be secure and reliable, and your computer must have a webcam. Please test your computer connection to make sure your test-taking runs smoothly.
    • Your ID
You must have a government-issued photo ID so the online proctor will be able to verify your identity.
    • GED Ready “green” score
As said before, you only qualify for online testing if you have attained a GED Ready “green” score, and your score must be from within the last 60 days. This applies to each of the four subtests that you want to take online.
    • Your state’s requirements
Of course, you’ll have to meet all of your state’s requirements regarding, for example, age and residency before you qualify for taking the GED tests online.

Where is Online GED Testing available?

Online Proctored GED testing was introduced in May 2020. It is available in practically all states and U.S. territories that use the GED exam for high school equivalency testing. The online GED exam is NOT offered in New York.

Prior to May 2020, GED test-takers had to show up in person at one of the state-recognized GED test centers.

The online GED test-taking option was developed to allow GED students to go on with testing at a time that many test centers were closed or had only limited appointment options due to the pandemic.

Secure GED TestingGed Online Requirements

The entire online GED testing process is monitored by a real person, a live proctor, who makes sure the process occurs in line with the strict regulations and rules.

Online GED testing is administered through AI (artificial intelligence) software that will guarantee optimal testing security.

The content and questions of the online GED test are exactly the same as the questions on the in-person GED edition, but the cost is slightly more expensive than the in-person test. For the GED cost in your state, check this post.

To register for the online proctored GED test, you need to set up your account on the website GED.com, just as you would for in-person testing. When you have created your account and qualify for online testing, you can log in and schedule your testing appointments. GED Benefits

Individuals who didn’t graduate from high school can take the GED (General Educational Development) exam to earn their high school equivalency (HSE) diploma in many states across the nation.

One of the greatest benefits of earning your GED diploma is that your income will increase considerably. People with a secondary education degree (high school diploma or GED) are making some $9,600 more annually than people without the degree.

The GED credential is the equivalency of a common high school diploma. It used to be that it wasn’t possible to take the exam over the Internet, but that has now changed with the introduction of the O.P. (Online Proctored) GED testing option.

Not all students feel comfortable studying for their GED diploma outside of their homes, while others feel they can learn better in a classroom setting.

There are numerous GED prep locations across the U.S., often at no cost at all. Here, dedicated instructors will help these students get all set for the four GED modules.

Often, these classes are state-sponsored and free of any charge. These courses are given at high schools, community colleges, adult learning centers, churches, and so on, so you will probably be able to find a prep class close to you.

For individuals who don’t feel comfortable with learning for the GED exam outside of their homes, an online prep course can be a great solution. This website helps these students through many free GED video lessons and practice tests to determine if an online course would fit them well.

If that’s the case, they can easily switch to Onsego Online GED Classes, a program that GED Testing Service has awarded the predicate “100 percent in line with the GED test.” Gedeno’s free support is a great way to get started, but for full coverage, check out Onsego GED Prep.

Online GED Prep

For many GED hopefuls, studying for the exam from home is ideal. This option offers flexibility and the freedom to study when and where that suits them best.

GED Testing Service offers great online help as well. If you go to the GED Marketplace (GEDMarketplace.com), you can benefit from many resources, including lots of prep materials, practice tests, online GED  study programs, workbooks, and mobile learning apps, just to mention a few.

You can also find many online GED prep resources at your local library and for studying at home, and there are also many study books available at your local bookstore. Please make sure, however, that your prep material is in line with the most recent edition of the GED test.

Online GED preparation gives you so much access to great prep resources that you can use whenever and wherever you choose. So, benefit from this website’s free GED study courses to get optimally prepared for the four GED subtests, so you will be able to earn your GED Diploma fast and efficiently.

Your GED diploma is recognized and accepted by virtually all North American institutions of post-secondary education, government agencies, and employers in the same way as a high school degree.

So, thanks to technological developments, you now have the option to sit for the four GED subject tests (one at a time if wished) from the comfort of your home as long as you meet all of the requirements. Read also: “What Happens After You Get Your GED?”

A Brighter Future

More than ever before, people are pursuing a higher level of education. This makes sense as there’s practically no job out there, also not at the entry level, that doesn’t require at least a high school or equivalent diploma.

Technological advances have made it practically impossible to be successful for individuals who don’t hold a high school or equivalent diploma.

If you think about going to college, or if you want to find a better or new job or qualify for a job promotion, you need to have at least a high school or equivalent education.

So if you quit high school prematurely, it doesn’t have to be too late. You still have the option to earn your high school equivalency diploma, and now, you not only can prepare for the GED test online, but you can also take the actual exam over the Internet. Isn’t that a great development?
