Online GED Testing
GED testing can be done at one of Oregon’s official GED testing centers or online, the so-called Online Proctored (OP) GED exam.
To be eligible to take the GED exam online, you must take the official GED Ready® practice tests and score in the “green,” or likely to pass, range.
The four GED exams must be taken exclusively on a computer. There is no paper-based testing option except for applicants with disabilities that prevent them from taking the GED exam in a computer-based format.
GED Passing Score
You have the liberty to take the four GED exams one at a time. So there’s no need to take the entire GED battery in one session. The four GED subtests are independent modules that can be dealt with one by one when you feel ready to do so.
All across America, schools of post-secondary education, government organizations, and employers accept the GED credential in lieu of a conventional HS diploma.
The passing score on all four GED subtests is 145. Your scores are calibrated on a scale that runs from 100 to 200. So if you want to earn your Oregon HSE (High School Equivalency) Diploma, you must reach at least that 145-score on each of the four subtests. Averaging is no option, and your overall score cannot be under 580 points.
Who Qualifies?
GED testing offers adults who could not finish high school the chance to get hold of an equivalent degree. GED test-takers can not hold a secondary education credential and not be registered for some other educational program.
In Oregon, the minimally required age to qualify for GED testing is 18, but 16 or 17-year-old candidates may also qualify if they meet extra, strict requirements such as having permission from a parent/guardian and being officially withdrawn from school.

Is the Oregon GED exam multiple-choice?
On the GED exam, you’ll still find many multiple-choice questions, but there also are questions in different formats such as short-answer, fill-in-the-blank, and draggable-answer questions. GED candidates will also have to produce their 5-6 paragraph-long extended response, the GED Essay.
What does the Oregon GED test cost?
The full Oregon GED exam will set you back $176 for the entire 4-test battery regardless of whether you take the exam online or on-site You can, however, register and pay for the subtests one at a time at $44 each.
Do I have to take the GED Ready test before the GED test in Oregon?
No, the state of Oregon doesn’t require you to register for some GED prep program or take and pass the GED Ready® Test before they allow you to take the exam, but this does NOT apply to the online GED exam.
