This is a complete overview of GED prep locations in the Jacksonville region. Test centers are also listed. North Carolina uses the entirely computer-formatted GED test for high school equivalency testing.

The state additionally welcomed the HiSET exam for this purpose, which is administered both on paper and on computer.

The GED exam has four separate modules (subtests) assessing knowledge of

• Mathematical Reasoning
• Science
• Reasoning through Language Arts
• Social Studies

Testing occurs at a level that’s comparable to what may be expected of HS seniors when they graduate.

You can sit for the four GED subtests one at a time. No need to complete the GED battery in one take.

The HiSET exam has five subtests since the Literacy part includes individual writing and reading tests that are also modular.

Introducing Online GED and HiSET Testing Options

Until recently, there was no way to sit for the HiSET or GED exam over the Internet. If you wanted to earn your North Carolina high school equivalency diploma, you were required to show up in person at one of the state’s official HSE testing centers.

Now, with the introduction of online GED and HiSET tests, that has all changed. Your Future

The GED program provides adults without a high school diploma with the fundamental skill sets and knowledge that are required at the level of secondary education. Having a GED diploma is extremely helpful when you want to find a job or seek a promotion within your current workplace. The fact that you took the time to develop intellectual capacities and enhance your analytical and critical thinking skills will definitely pay off in the long run.

Over the last decade, more than 120,000 North Carolina residents earned their GED high school equivalency degrees. The GED program is highly valuable. It allows you to qualify for a college or university education, and employers will see and respect that you have been investing your time and money in your education and a better future.

Age Requirements

In North Carolina, students seeking to secure their GED diplomas must be at least 16 years old. For 16 and 17-year-old applicants counts, however, that they must submit an age waiver if they meet some strict qualifications and are approved for exceptions. Underage students should contact their local North Carolina Adult Education program to learn all about the appropriate forms.

North Carolina doesn’t require GED applicants to be state residents, but they must take (and pass) the last of the four (4) subtests in North Carolina to receive their diploma from the State of North Carolina. GED testers do not first have to attend GED prep classes or score satisfactory results on a practice test.
