The assessment gives adults who could not complete their regular high school curriculum a chance to earn an equivalent educational degree.

GED® testing is done via four independent subject tests (modules) that cover the fields of:

  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics
  • English Language

There’s no need to take the battery in one session. You have the liberty to take the four GED subject tests one at a time.

The assessment measures knowledge at a level comparable to that of high school students upon graduation.

The GED exam is now also available over the Internet for qualifying students. Read more below.

Introducing the Online Proctored GED Exam

Taking the GED exam via the Internet is now also an option. In the past, you needed to show up at an official Alaska GED testing center in person if you wanted to get ahold of your Alaska high school equivalency diploma.

Well, that has changed with the arrival of GED testing in an online version. An online proctor will help you through the process. To qualify for online testing, you must score in the “green zone” on the GED Ready® practice test. More information can be found here: The online proctored GED test.

Please note that when you take the GED test at a physical site, you’ll get two retakes at a reduced rate. This is not the case when you take the exam online.
