GED testing is available online and at state-approved test centers.

The assessment offers individuals who didn’t finish high school another shot at securing an equivalent credential.

GED® testing occurs at a level comparable to a high school graduation level.

The GED has four separate subtests in

• Language Arts – 150 minutes (incl. a 10-minute break)
• Social Studies – 70 minutes
• Mathematics – 115 minutes
• Science – 90 minutes

You can write these modules separately and in your preferred order.

The GED diploma is accepted across America in lieu of a regular HS degree by practically all colleges and employers.

Until recently, there was no online GED test. You needed to show up at a state-approved GED testing site. But with the arrival of a new online proctored GED exam, that has all changed. Read more below.

GED instruction is for individuals 18 years or older looking to enhance their literacy and math skills to successfully take the GED exam. Applicants must take a placement test (required by Washington State), which is only used for placement purposes.

Each student will be assigned a personalized study program, and the school delivers instruction via individual study and structured courses both in group lessons and via computers. GED classes are available in English and Spanish.

Online Proctored GED Test

Sitting for the GED exam was, until recently, only possible at official GED testing sites. There was simply no online GED test available. If you wanted to earn an Idaho GED diploma, your personal appearance at an official GED test site was required.

Now, that has changed with the arrival of a proctored, online GED test-taking option. An online proctor will guide you through the entire process and see if you do everything according to the rules and regulations. For detailed information, check out this post: ‘The Online GED Test.’

GED Passing Score

The GED passing score is 145 on each of the four modules. So, your overall score needs to be no less than 580. Averaging is no option. There are three GED passing score ranges:

• Scores in the 145-164 range: high school equivalent results
• Scores in the 165-174 range: college-ready results
• Scores in the 175-200 range: college-ready + credit range

The GED credential is recognized by practically all North American employers and schools of higher learning. The GED exam is a rigorous four-part exam that is administered entirely on a computer; there is no paper-based testing option.

Holders of the GED diploma will certainly have better job options and also qualify for a college or university education. GED holders are making at least $9,500 more annually than people without the credential.
