This article shows you all GED and HiSET test facilities and prep class locations in the Lewistown region. In Montana, you must pass the four GED subject tests or the five HiSET subtests if you wish to earn your High School Equivalency degree.
The GED® and HiSET® exams are both offered both in an online format and at state-designated Montana test facilities.
The exams have been designed for people who left high school prematurely. This way, they can get hold of an equivalent degree.
The HiSET, like the GED, assesses knowledge at a level that compares to that of high school graduates.
There are five HiSET subtests assessing a student’s level of knowledge in these academic areas:
- English Language Reading
- English Language Writing
- Social Studies
GED testing includes four separate sub-exams since the reading and writing sporting were merged into one Language Arts subtest.
HiSET testing can be done on a computer or on paper, whereas the GED is fully computer-based. You don’t need to take the entire GED or HiSET battery in one session. All modules can be taken if you wish, one at a time and in any order.
In earlier days, online HiSET or GED testing was not possible. To earn your Montana High School Equivalency diploma, the exams were available exclusively at state-recognized HiSET test centers.
Recently, however, we saw the launch of online options to sit for the GED and HiSET exam online, the ‘HiSET-At-Home’ exam, and the OP (Online Proctored) GED Test. Read more below.

Launching the Online HiSET and GED Test
In the past, you couldn’t sit for the HiSET or GED test via the Internet. But now, we saw an interesting new development as online options were launched, the ‘HiSET-at-Home’ and the Online Proctored (OP) GED exam.
When you decide to take the HiSET or GED exam at home, an online proctor will see if all goes according to some rather strict regulations. To read more detailed information about this great new development, check out this post: Introducing the online HiSET exam, and to learn more about the OP GED Test, <- check here.
After successfully completing the HiSET exam, you will receive the Montana High School Equivalency Diploma, a certification that is recognized and accepted by corporations, state and federal government organizations, and colleges and universities all over the nation.
In the U.S., there are millions of people who don’t have a high school diploma, and completing the HiSET or GED exam will give them a lot more employment possibilities and open doors to colleges and universities. Annually, over a half million people pass the GED or HiSET test, and you could be one too. You may also use this website’s free GED video lessons and practice tests to get all set fast, also for the HiSET exam.
Both exams are offered in English and Spanish and are great instruments for you in your efforts to achieve your long-term goals in education and employment. Every test center offers accommodations for candidates with disabilities or health-related requirements.
When you pass the HiSET or GED exam, you have demonstrated that you have the academic knowledge and skills at a level comparable to graduating HS students. The HiSET and exams are aligned with Common Core Standards and with this website’s free practice tests and video lessons, you can get familiarized with the exam formats and questions and computer-based testing.
