This article posts all GED preparatory sites and testing centers in the Miami region. Florida uses the GED test for high school equivalency testing purposes.

The GED test can be taken at an official GED test center or online. Note that Florida suspended online GED testing as of 1-10-24. To learn more about the online GED® test, check below.

The assessment gives adults who did not complete high school an extra option to acquire an equivalent diploma. Testing occurs at a level comparable to that of graduating high school seniors.

The GED test is quite challenging, and to prepare well, you can learn with a teacher at one of the sites listed below. You may also learn with an accredited online course. This website offers free GED online classes.

If that approach appeals to you, we advise Onsego GED Prep, a program recognized as “entirely aligned to the current, computer-based GED exam” by GED Testing Service, the official GED organization.

The GED exam is available in English and Spanish and contains four subtests (independent modules) that measure a candidate’s academic proficiency in these subjects:

• Social Studies, incl. History, Geography, and Economics
• Science, incl. Physics and Chemistry
• Mathematical Reasoning
• Reasoning through Language Arts

You may take one (or more) of these subtests at a time and in the order you want. There’s no need to prepare for and complete the GED battery in one session.

Online GED Testing

Until recently, there never had been an online option for taking the GED exam. To acquire your Florida GED diploma, you had to come, in person, to one of Florida’s official GED testing centers and pass the four GED subtests.

Now, that has all changed with the introduction of the online, proctored GED testing option, where an online proctor guides you through the entire GED test-taking process.
