GED testing is available at certified testing centers and online. Check below to learn more about online GED testing. Please note that in Florida, online GED testing was suspended on Jan 10, 2024.

The GED® is only offered in a computer-formatted version and has four separate subtests covering:

  • Language
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Math.

There’s no need to prepare for the entire GED exam. You can take one (or more) of the four subtests at a time and in your desired order.

The GED test is quite challenging. The passing score is set at a knowledge level comparable to that of graduating HS seniors.

Introducing the Online GED Test

If you were looking to take the GED exam, you never had an option over the Internet. That is, until recently! To earn your GED, you were required to come to one of Florida’s state-approved GED test centers.

Now, with the introduction of a new, online, proctored GED testing option, that has changed. An online proctor will help you through the testing process. Note, however, that in Florida, the online GED test was suspended on 1-10-24. To learn more, check out this article: ‘The online proctored GED test.’

Who is the GED Test for?

The GED (General Education Development) program is for adults who never completed high school. The GED program gives them the chance to acquire a diploma that compares to a standard high school diploma and is accepted as such by nearly all American colleges, universities, and employers.

GED Scoring

The four GED modules (independent sub-exams) are scored on a 100-200 scale. The passing score on EACH sub-exam is 145 points. Averaging is no option. There are four GED Test Scoring Ranges:

  • 100-144: The GED Below Passing Range
  • 145-164: The GED HSE (high school equivalency) Range
  • 165-174: The GED College-Ready Range
  • 175-200: The GED College-Ready + Credit Range (you will receive up to 10 credit hours, depending on the college or university and subject)
