The GED® is only offered in a computer-formatted version and has four separate subtests in literacy, social studies, science, and math.

The GED test is quite challenging. The passing score is set at a knowledge level comparable to that of graduating HS seniors.

Who is the GED test for?

The GED (General Education Development) program is for adults who never completed high school, and gives them the chance to acquire a diploma that compares to a standard high school diploma, and is accepted as such by nearly all American colleges, universities, and employers.

GED Scoring

The four GED modules (independent sub-exams) are scored on a 100-200 scale. You have the liberty to sit for the four modules one at a time if you wish. Averaging is no option, and the passing score on EACH sub-exam is 145 points.

Scores in the 145-164 range indicate high school equivalency; scores in the 165-174 range indicate college readiness; scores in the 175-200 range will additionally result in up to 10 college credits, depending on the subject field and the college or university.
