Listed in this post is an overview of all GED prep facilities and test sites in and around New Rochelle. New York State uses the GED assessment for the state’s High School Equivalency testing program.
The GED exam is fully computer-based and gives adults without a high school diploma the chance to earn an equivalent degree.
The GED® (General Education Development) exam comes with four subject tests in the academic fields of Language Arts (English Writing & Reading), Social Studies, Science, and Math.
In the year 2014-2021, New York used the TASC exam for this purpose, but that program was discontinued. You don’t need to worry that your earlier TASC scores are now invalid, as you can transfer these scores to the GED!
The diploma that you will receive after passing the GED assessment confirms that you master the same skills and knowledge as a high school graduate.
Practically all universities, colleges, and employers in the US accept the GED diploma as equivalent to a high school diploma.
In New York State, GED testing is only available for NY state residents, and it is free. You can take one GED subtest at a time if you wish.
The GED assessment is available only at state-certified test centers in New York. The state does not offer the GED exam in an online format yet.

What is the GED exam?
The GED exam is a group of four modular (independent) exams that, when taken successfully, will lead to the New York State High School Equivalency Diploma. This credential is equivalent to a regular high school diploma and is accepted as such all across the nation by virtually all local, state, and federal government agencies, employers, and institutions of higher learning.
The GED credential is a state-issued diploma that certifies that the holder has been educated at a level comparable to a New York state high school graduate. This is different from the External Diploma Program (EDP), which is sometimes confused with the GED.
The EDP is a partnership program with individual school districts that gives adults the chance to earn a diploma from a participating high school just as if they had attended that school.
