A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.

Learn fast, stay motivated, and pass your GED quickly.

The GED must be done entirely on a computer, while the HiSET is offered both on a computer and on paper.

Testing is done at a level that is similar to that of high school graduates.

The GED exam has four individual tests in

  • Social Studies
  • English Language
  • Math
  • Science

These subtests can be taken separately and in any order.

The Language section of the HiSET is divided into separate writing and reading tests, so this option has five testing areas that are offered separately as well.

Online GED and HiSET Testing

Both the HiSET and GED are now available over the Internet. Until very recently, there was no option to take the GED or HiSET assessments online. That simply didn’t exist. You had to show up at a state-designated testing center and take the exams in person. Now, that has changed.

Both the GED and HiSET exams now offer online, proctored formats as well. Read more here: the online proctored HiSET exam, and for information on the online proctored GED test, check here.

Please be aware that if you take the GED exam at a test center, you’ll get two retakes per subject test at a reduced rate. This, however, does not apply to online GED testing!

The GED Exam – For Who is it?

The GED and HiSET tests are intended for adults who never finished high school, and the diploma or certificate that you are going to receive when you complete the HiSET or GED test successfully is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma by state and federal institutions, employers, and universities and colleges throughout the nation.

The GED (General Education Development) and HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) assess if you can be successful in college and university and/or if you will succeed on the work floor.

The HSE program is geared towards persons who don’t hold a high school diploma and gives them a chance to earn an equivalent degree. The GED credential will definitely lead to better employment, and it opens the door toward a college education.

The Four GED Subtests

The GED (General Education Development) test examines elementary knowledge at the level that students should have when they graduate from high school, and lessons taught in GED preparation programs address the topics of the four tests of the GED exam: literacy, social studies, math, and science.

The GED test is modular, meaning that you can take the tests separately. The HiSET is also modular and comes with five tests, as the Literacy section had two sub-tests on reading and writing.
