This post contains a full listing of GED and HiSET class locations and testing sites in the Pittsburgh region. Pennsylvania is using two options for its high school equivalency testing program: the GED and HiSET exams.

Both the GED and HiSET tests can be taken online and at official Pennsylvania test centers.

The HiSET® is available both on paper and on computer, whereas the GED is fully computerized.

The GED® includes four independent modules (subtests) assessing a student’s knowledge of:

• Language Arts
• Math
• Science
• Social Studies

These tests may be completed one at a time and in your desired order. This page shows all GED programs Pittsburgh.

The HiSET exam has five subtests that can also be done separately (the Literacy part has individual reading and writing tests).

Both tests assess knowledge at a level that is comparable to that of high school seniors upon graduation.

In earlier days, GED and HiSET testing was only available at state-approved high school equivalency (HSE) test facilities. This had now changed, however, with the arrival of online proctored options for both exams.

Introducing Online Proctored GED and HiSET Tests

In earlier days, the GED and HiSET exams were never available in online formats. The tests had to be taken at one of Pennsylvania’s official, state-approved HSE (High School Equivalency) test centers. But, as we recently saw the launch of proctored GED online and HiSET tests, that has all changed.
