This article includes a list of all GED or HiSET testing facilities and prep class locations in the Quincy area. Massachusetts offers two options for high school equivalency testing, the GED and the HiSET.
Both tests can be taken online and at state-certified test centers.
The exams give adults who have not finished high school one more shot at securing an equivalent credential.
Both options are administered at a level similar to what students learn over four years of high school.
The computer-formatted GED® has four individual subtests (modules) that can be taken individually.
The four GED subtests are in Math. Literacy, Social Studies, and Science.
HiSET® testing can be done both on-paper and on-computer via five subtests in the fields of English Writing, English Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math that you may also take separately.
Testing over the internet was, until recently, never possible. Your personal appearance was required at an official testing site but now we’ve seen the introduction of online testing options for both the HiSET and the GED test. More details are listed below.

Online GED and HiSET testing
It used to be that taking the GED or HiSET exam in an online format was no option. You always had to come to an official, state-designated test center. Recently, however, we saw the arrival of a new online testing format for both the GED and HiSET exam.
*) Quincy College
Quincy College (both Quincy and Plymouth campuses) are GED or HiSET (High School Equivalency) Testing Centers. Massachusetts joined Maine and New Hampshire to replace the GED with the HiSET exam by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Massachusetts decided later to offer the GED as well and Quincy College’s two campuses became official Pearson VUE testing centers.
The HiSET exam includes five test areas, just as formerly the GED: literacy reading, literacy writing, math, science, and social studies. The HiSET is available in various formats (on paper or on a computer) and in English and Spanish. The GED comes with four separate tests (modules).
The school offers a 10-week preparation course to get students all set for the Massachusetts HSE (high school equivalency) exam, and applicants will first have to attend an orientation & registration session.
