GED Classes Rockford, Illinois

Last Updated on April 10, 2024.

Listed on this page are all GED class locations and test centers in the Rockford region. Illinois uses two options for high school equivalency testing: the HiSET and the GED exams.

Both tests are offered online and at designated testing centers. Check below for more information about online GED and HiSET testing.

The exams give persons who left high school without graduating the chance to earn an equivalent degree.

You can get all set for the GED exam under the guidance of an instructor at one of the facilities listed below or sign up for a good, engaging, accredited online program, such as the course created by Onsego Online GED Prep.

The GED® has four separate modules, or subtests, in the academic subject areas of

  • Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Math
  • Science

You have the option to complete the four computer-based GED subtests one at a time. The HiSET® modules are offered separately as well if you wish.

The HiSET exam can be taken on a computer or on paper and contains five tests, as Literacy has individual reading and writing tests.

The HSE diploma is accepted by virtually all local and national government agencies, employers, and colleges and universities.

Test takers in Illinois must also pass an exam on the American and Illinois Constitutions.

For details about the qualification criteria in Illinois, <- go to this page.

Illinois now gives high school diplomas to successful GED testers, and the GED exam is offered at no cost as well in Illinois!

Introducing Online GED and HiSET Exams

Sitting for the HiSET or GED exam over the Internet was, until recently, no option. It was simply not available online. If you were looking to earn an Illinois high school equivalency diploma, you were required to come to an official, state-approved testing facility and sit for the tests in person.

Well, that has now changed! Both the HiSET and the GED exam have introduced online versions using online proctors. You can learn more about the GED here -> The online proctored GED test, and to read more about The online HiSET-At-Home exam, <- check here.
