The exam offers adults who did not complete their high school curriculum the chance to earn an equivalent degree. Testing happens at a level that’s comparable to that of graduating HS seniors.

The GED exam includes four independent subtests that can be taken separately. The four GED subtests cover the fields of

  • Mathematical Reasoning
  • Language through Language Arts
  • Science, including Chemistry, Scientific Method, Physics
  • Social Studies, including History, Government, Geography

In the past, GED testing over the Internet was not offered. Test-takers were required to come to one of Kansas’ state-designated testing sites.

Now, however, the arrival of an online GED testing option has changed that. Read more below.

In the AO-K program, students earn a college certificate in healthcare while simultaneously working toward their GED diploma. Healthcare fields are Certified Nurse Aide, Certified Medication Aide, Medical Terminology, and Medical Billing & Coding. The State of Kansas will pay most of the costs!

Barton offers small classes to help students get all set for the GED test. There is no charge for these classes, but there is a $50 fee for study materials. The school also offers Computer Literacy training and WorkReady certification instruction. Barton’s Center for Adult Education is located on the 1st Floor, Room D108, of the Great Bend Workforce Center.

How hard is the GED?

Online Proctored GED Testing

Until recently, the GED test was not offered over the Internet. To secure your Kansas GED diploma, you were required to report personally to one of Kansas’ official GED testing centers.
