Online GED Classes

A simple and easy way of getting your GED diploma.

Learn fast, stay motivated, and pass your GED quickly.

The GED exam is available at designated testing facilities and online. The online version has, however, been suspended in Florida on 1-10-24. For more information on online GED testing, check below.

The exam gives adults who did not finish high school the opportunity to get hold of an equivalent degree.

The GED® diploma all over North America is accepted in the same way as a regular high school degree by employers and schools.

The exam contains four independent modules (subtests) measuring a test-taker’s knowledge of

  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Language Arts

You can prepare and sit for one or more of the four GED subtests (modules) at a time. GED testing must be done entirely computer-based; there is no paper-based testing option.

Introducing the Online GED Test

There was never the option to take the GED exam via the Internet. Until recently, that is! To earn your GED, you had to show up personally at an official Florida GED testing facility and pass the four computer-based GED modules.

Now, with the introduction of a new, online, proctored GED testing option, that has all changed. Check out ‘The online GED exam’ to learn more. Be aware, however, that Florida has suspended online GED testing.

Florida Requirements

In Florida, GED test candidates need to be at least 18 years old, not already possess a secondary education degree, not be signed up for some other education program, possess a current (not expired) government-issued picture I.D. (including their address and their signatures), and have a valid email address upon registration.

Underage Candidates

Students 16 and 17 years old may also be eligible for taking the 4-module GED exam, but they must be officially taken from their school education, submit permission granted by their school boards, and hold written parental permission signed by a parent or guardian. They must obtain an Underage Waiver so they can sit for the four modules of the GED exam and work toward their GED diplomas.

In Florida, there’s no requirement to follow a prep course or take the official GED Ready Practice test prior to testing except when you want to take the exam online. Underage test-takers, however, may be required to attend prep classes and show the ability to successfully take the four-module GED exam through a practice test.

Florida GED Fee

In Florida, taking the four GED modules will set you back $128 (or $32 per sub-exam) when you sit for the exam at a test center. If you take the exam online, each subtest costs $38, so the total cost will be 152. You’ll have to add the cost of four GED Ready tests as well, which are $6.99 each.

So overall, you’ll have to pay $180 if you want to earn your GED online in Florida. You can register for the modular subtests one at a time, and you’ll only have to pay for what you take at that time. Students who choose Onsego’s online GED prep course will get 4 GED Ready tests for free.

If you want to see if you’re ready to take one of the modules, set up your GED account at GED.com/MyGED, and then you can purchase the GED Ready practice test, the only practice test that can predict if you’re likely to pass the real thing or not. You’ll receive a score report with directions on what topics you should focus on to be successful in the real thing. To be eligible for online GED testing, you are required to reach passing scores on four GED Ready practice tests.
