In this post, we list all GED preparatory facilities and testing sites in the Shelby area. North Carolina uses the entirely computerized GED for high school equivalency testing.
The state also introduced the HiSET alternative that is available both on a computer and on paper.
The GED® test comes with four individual subtests (modules) that may be dealt with separately.
The four GED modules are in these academic subject fields: Math, Science, Literacy, and Social Studies.
The HiSET® Literacy section has individual writing and reading tests, so five overall, that can also be taken separately.
Online HiSET or GED testing was, until recently, no option. Check below for more information about the newly launched GED and HiSET online testing options.

Introducing online HiSET and GED tests
Online HiSET or GED testing was never an option. If you wanted to secure your North Carolina HSE (high school equivalency) diploma, you needed to show up in person at an official North Carolina HSE testing center.
Well, with the recent arrival of both online GED and HiSET test-taking options, this has all changed. More detailed information about the new online proctored GED exam can be found here: ‘The online GED test,’ and for more information about online proctored HiSET testing, visit ‘The online HiSET test.’
A great and fast way to get all set is also available on this website: free online GED video lessons and practice tests.

Who is the GED for?
The GED exam, like the HiSET, is developed for adults who didn’t finish high school, and the certificate that you are given after successfully completing the North Carolina HSE (High School Equivalency) exam is regarded as equivalent to a high school diploma all across the nation by employers, government agencies, and educational institutions. The GED and HiSET tests address general competencies that students must command after four years of high school training.
GED preparation programs are available at all North Carolina community colleges, and some offer their courses online. Great for people in remote areas, but you should, however, choose a community college near you, as you will need to come to the school’s campus for some paperwork, pre-tests, orientation, and so on.
