The TASC™ (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) was one of three nationally available high school equivalency tests in the U.S. The exam was discontinued. You may very well use these practice tests for your GED or HiSET preparation.
Like the GED, the TASC exam offered adults who couldn’t complete high school the chance to get hold of a diploma or certificate that’s accepted just like a regular H.S. diploma across the U.S.
The TASC exam came with five independent tests that measured proficiency and competencies at a level similar to the one expected from a person who completed four years of the high school curriculum.
The credential that’s awarded by states upon successfully taking the HSE (High School Equivalency) test will definitely lead to better job opportunities and also allows for education in college.
The five TASC modular tests covered the subject fields of Math, Language Writing, Language Reading, Science, and Social Studies.
These five modules could be taken separately and were available in English and Spanish, though not at all test centers. The tests could be taken on a computer or on paper except in West Virginia and New Jersey where you had to take the exam on a computer.
To help you get ahead fast with your TASC preparation, we’ve developed numerous TASC video lessons and practice tests. The contents of GED® and TASC are similar so you may use these tests very well for your GED or HiSET preparation.
TASC Science Practice Tests
- Set 1-Human Body and Health, Heritage
- Set 2-Earth Science, Organization of Life, Scientific Methods
- Set 3-Human Body and Health, Earth Science
- Set 4-Physics, Organization of Life, Heritage
- Set 5-Heritage, Human Body
The fields that are addressed in these Science practice tests are Life Science, Physical Science, and Earth Science.
Life Science (Biology-34%) is covering the sectors of the Human Body and Health; the relationship between Life Functions and Energy Intake; the Functions, Organization, and Structure of Life; Evolution; and Genetics & Heredity.
Physical Science (33%) covers Physics and Chemistry. The addressed fields are Flow, Transformation, and Conservation of Energy; Work, Force, & Motion; Chemical Properties; Chemical and/or Nuclear Reactions in their relation to Living Systems and Organisms.
Earth and Space Science (33%) covers the academic sectors of Earth, how its System Components interact; how Earth’s Systems interact with Living Objects; and the Structures and Organization of the Cosmos.
In the Science test, you are assessed on their understanding and application of science passages and graphics. The Science questions measure your skills regarding scientific investigation and study. The questions address:
Your comprehension of scientific concepts and how well you can interpret scientific passages and graphics. You must be able to use the scientific method to design research, understand interpret data, and work with outcomes.
Taking a number of practice tests has proven to be an efficient educational method to get you all set for the real thing real fast!
You need to be able to understand work with scientific information to draw conclusions based on evidence. You must understand how to apply formulas and scientific concepts to express information and apply theories in scientific settings. Additionally, you must know how to use statistics and the rules of probability in scientific contexts.
On the Science test, you’ll also have to perform calculations. You can use the same scientific calculator as on the Math subtest.
The TASC Science subtest, just like the GED Science test, covered these three main content fields: Life Science; Physical Science; Earth & Space Science. To be successful on the TASC Science test, you needed to get at least a 500 score on a scale from 300 to 800.
To pass the TASC Science module, you had to be able to read some pretty complex scientific texts, identify scientific details, determine cause & effect, understand scientific content, and identify scientific evidence for support inferences and come up with conclusions.
