The GED (General Education Development) exam includes four modules (independent subtests) in

  • Math
  • Science
  • Language
  • Social Studies

The GED is administered exclusively on a computer, and you can take the GED subtests one (or more) at a time.

Riverside County’s Office of Education has launched the Come Back Kids (CBK) program that provides prevention and/or intervention services to adults wanting to return to school to improve their educational status. The program enables adults to earn their high school diplomas with only 200 credits.

Young adults who quit school too early and have fallen behind are given the opportunity to make up credits, get the type of education they need, and receive special attention. Students have several options; they can, for example, prepare for the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE), complete high school graduation requirements (credits), or get training to sit for the GED exam successfully.

The program also offers ABE (Adult Basic Education) and ESL (English as a Second Language) classes and workforce development programs. For more information, call 877-726-3225.

Online Proctored GED and HiSET Testing

To earn your California high school equivalency diploma, you can now take both the HiSET and GED over the Internet. Until recently, taking the GED or HiSET online was not possible. To get hold of your diploma, you had to come personally to an official California test site.

Well, that has now totally changed! Both exams are now offered online as well. An online proctor will monitor if all happens in line with the strict regulations. To read more about these new developments, go to these posts: The online GED test and for HiSET testing: The online proctored HiSET test.
