Posted in this article are all GED and HiSET prep classes and testing sites in the Valdosta region. Georgia uses two options for its High School Equivalency program: the GED and HiSET tests.

The GED exam is entirely computer-based, while the HiSET can be taken on a computer and on paper.

Both assessments can be taken at state-approved testing sites or in an online format.

The exams give people who didn’t graduate high school a chance to secure an equivalent diploma.

The GED® (General Education Development) exam includes four individual tests in the fields of

• Math
• Literacy (reading and writing combined)
• Social Studies
• Science

The HiSET® (High School Equivalency Test) has individual reading and writing subtests, so five in total.

You can take one of the four GED or five HiSET subtests (modules) at a time; no need to complete the entire GED or HiSET battery in one take.

HSE testing occurs at a level that’s similar to what may be expected of graduating high school students.

In the past, GED or HiSET testing over the Internet was not possible. You had to come, in person, to a state-approved Georgia testing site.

This, however, has changed now an online option was introduced to sit for the GED or HiSET exam. Read more below.

WGTC’s Office of Adult Education offers free Lowndes County Adult Education pre GED and GED prep classes at all of the school’s sites in its service area. Free online instruction is offered as well to qualifying students. All applicants must complete an orientation and registration session before they can attend GED prep classes. GED and HiSET Online Test-Taking Option

Until quite recently, the GED and HiSET tests were only offered at state-designated testing centers. The exams were simply not available online. To acquire a Georgia HSE credential, you had to come, in person, to one of the state’s official test sites.

Now, with the introduction of online proctored GED and HiSET test-taking options, all of that has changed. If you sit for the online GED or HiSET test, you will see an online proctor who helps you through the test-taking process and checks if all is done in line with rules and regulations.
