This is a full listing of GED prep class sites and test centers in the Wilmington region. North Carolina is offering two options for high school equivalency testing: the GED and HiSET exams.

GED and HiSET testing can be done both online and at state-certified NC test centers.

The exams give adults who never graduated high school one more chance to obtain an equivalent diploma.

The GED® has four subtests covering the subjects of

• Math
• Social Studies
• Science
• English Language Literacy

You have the option to complete these subtests one at a time and in your desired order.

The HiSET® exam comes with five tests (Literacy has individual writing and reading tests) that can be taken separately, too.

While the GED is totally computerized, the HiSET exam is offered in both paper-based and computerized versions.

In the past, online testing was not available. Testing had to be done at official state-designated testing centers.

This has now changed, however, as we witnessed the recent launch of both online HiSET and GED testing options. Read more below.

Introducing Online HiSET and GED Testing

Until recently, it was not possible to take the HiSET or GED exam online. To secure your North Carolina HSE (high school equivalency) degree, your personal appearance at one of the state’s official HSE testing sites was required.

Well, recently, we’ve seen the launch of both online proctored GED and HiSET test-taking options, so all of that has changed.
