GED Classes Yuba City, California

This is an overview of all GED class locations and testing sites in the Yuba City area. California offers two options for high school equivalency (HSE) testing: the HiSET and GED.

Both exams can be taken online or at official test centers. You can learn more about online GED® and HiSET® testing below.

The tests give persons who never completed high school one more shot at earning an equivalent diploma.

Both exams measure knowledge at the level that may be expected of graduating high school students.

The GED has four individual subtests measuring a student’s academic knowledge level in these subjects:

  • Language Arts
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics
  • Science

These modules (independent sub-exams) may be written individually and in any order.

The HiSET exam includes five tests, as the literacy part has a test on writing and one on reading. These tests can be taken separately, too.

Online Proctored HiSET and GED Testing

To get hold of your California HSE (High School Equivalency) diploma, you can now also take the HiSET or GED exam over the Internet. It used to be that if you wanted to earn a GED, you had to show up at an official GED test site and sit for the exam in person.

Well, that has now totally changed. Both the GED and the HiSET are offered online and at testing centers. When taking the tests via the Internet, an online proctor will be monitoring the entire process to guarantee all goes in line with the rules. For more details, check out online GED testing and for the HiSET: online HiSET testing.

GED Scoring

Your GED scores are calibrated on a scale running from 100 to 200. On each sub-exam, the minimum required score is 145. There are four GED scoring ranges:

  • 100-144 is the GED below-passing score
  • 145-164 is the GED high school equivalency (HSE) score
  • 165-174 is the GED college-ready score
  • 175-200 is the GED college ready + college credits score

Your HiSET subtests are calibrated on a 0 to 20 score. On each sub-exam, the minimum score is 8. Overall, you must reach scores in the 45-100 range, and your essay must have at least a 2 out of 6 score.

Should we add or remove a location? Are adjustments and/or updates required? Please advise us here.
